Sexually Transmitted Infections

Common symptoms of Sexually transmitted infections (STI) could include change in urination, urinate more frequently, having burning when you pee, discharge coming out of the genitals, rashes, things like this. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it would be ideal to reach out to your physician. Get the appropriate testing done to confirm and then get the treatment followed up.

STI is not something that is easy to talk about. In fact, I think there is probably a lot of people reading this article that have never told anyone. Maybe you thought no one would believe you or tell anyone. Whatever the case may be for you, leave it at my door before you go because I am going to tell everyone what sexually transmitted diseases really are and exactly where they come from. Sexually transmitted diseases are not as scary as they sound. As a matter of fact, sexually transmitted diseases are very common among teenagers and adults alike.

Sexually transmitted diseases pose a significant health risk for millions of individuals. And even though there are several common STIs and many of them have similar symptoms, not everyone is aware of this. Most common STIs are improperly diagnosed as a result, often resulting in further infections.

It is an unfortunate fact that young people, particularly teenagers are not openly discussed about either giving or receiving protection from STI, until it is necessary. Then it becomes a pressing issue, and often to late. When a parent finds out that their child has been diagnosed with an STI most of the time it is due to them finding out that their child had contracted the disease from a sexual partner. This turns into a very uncomfortable situation for everyone involved.

Most people aren’t familiar with STIs. The majority of STI infections are prevalent in people under 30, but often go unnoticed and untreated. Early diagnosis is key to managing these infections.

Don’t be ashamed if you or someone you love has been diagnosed with an STI. Many Canadians are infected with one. Don’t be afraid to talk about your diagnosis, and understand that treatment is available, and recovery is possible!
